Welcome the official beginnings of the Team Squish Race Series!!
You have all been invited to participate in a series of races that are designed to improve your personal level of fitness while introducing a level of friendly competition amongst a wide range of athletic abilities. During this series of races, victories will range from a spectrum of criteria that will be noted in the race description. The Team Squish Race Series will give us the ability to compete based on our own individual schedules... leaving us no excuses!
Races will be announced in the beginning of the week. TS Race Management will keep the races short enough to be completed in approximately 60 minutes or less. Rules at this time area limited, although honesty is the best policy. Races must be captured using a device compatible with Garmin Connect. Information will be used to categorize and determine the winners for the week. All results will be posted here. Everyone competes against everyone! TS Race Management will determine the top three winners each week and will generate a points list to determine the end of the year awards. After the first few events, we will develop a handicapping system to even the playing field and not to strictly use fastest times. Review the first few racing events... and good luck to all!!
Race Schedule:
1. Two Mile Challenge (9/2-9/4) -- This is a two mile road race. For those who have it available, try to use a heart rate monitor. Course may be as easy or challenging as you would like to make it. The winners will be decided Monday. Race must be completed between 5pm Friday and Midnight Sunday. Points will be awarded to the three fastest times. (A handicap system will begin after the first four events)
2. 7 Mile TT (9/9-9/11) -- A short seven mile cycling race. Complete this race between 4pm Friday and before Midnight Sunday. Course may be as easy or challenging as you would like. A straight course may be more beneficial, although if a turn around is used, times may be slightly adjusted to compensate as safety is a priority in our competitions (time will be adjusted 15 seconds for the first turnaround used. Multiple turn arounds will be allowed but not for time adjustments).
3. Three Mile Challenge (9/16-9/18) -- Three miles flat! By now everyone should have a heart rate monitor to use. This effort must be done with a heart rate monitor as winners will be determined using the three highest average heart rates. As with the other challenges, courses may be designed to be as easy or as difficult as your individual preferences. Must be completed between 5pm Friday and Midnight Sunday.
4. 9 Mile TT (9/23-9/25) -- A longer, 9 mile all out cycling effort as done in week 2. Use heart rate monitors if available. Times will be adjusted 15 seconds for the first turn around. The three slowest riders from week two will receive a 30 second time bonus if average speed improves from the 7mile ride to the 9mile ride. This race must be completed between 4pm Friday and Midnight Sunday.
Our October schedule will be open to suggestions for race ideas. TS Race Management will post race results between Monday and Wednesday following the competitions. We hope to have an enjoyable inaugural race season. Race Hard, Race Fast, Race Friendly! See you at the finish line!

Excellent plan. I'm pumped I think pictures should be added as well. Picture challenge added with each race for extra points. Thoughts??
Pictures sound fun... I suppose we can do some bonus points for photos, but will have to have a cap of 1pt a week. We don't want to have Marcus posting 8 pics to get onto the podium! Looking forward to everyone having a good time! Send your race day pics to TS Race management at TeamSquish@gmail.com!
